Overview

Witness Italy’s most spectacular slice of coastline on this independent day trip to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast from Naples. Traveling by minivan, head to the clifftop resort of Sorrento, and explore its piazzas, shops and sights at leisure. Then, drive along the UNESCO-listed Amalfi Coast to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, with free time in each to shop, sightsee or enjoy lunch independently. Entrance fees and meals are at your own expense.

Meeting Point

If your ship docks at Pier 21 in Molo Carlo Pisacane, pick-up will be just outside the exit gate where the ship will dock, just next to the ship, here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/t8zhGszKcbwBR1Mb8 A driver/guide will show a sign with the name.

Pickup Details

Please insert your accommodation address in Naples (hotel, b&b, airbnb) in the "Special Requirements" section when booking, then call the local supplier the evening before your tour after 7PM to know your pick up time and if your pick up will be at your accommodation, nearby, or at our starting point.

What To Expect

1. Sorrento Meet your driver at your central Naples hotel or at Naples’ central train station. Then, board your air-conditioned minivan and head south to Sorrento, the clifftop resort just west of the UNESCO-listed Amalfi Coast, a 40-mile (64-km) chunk of shore famed for its steep cliffs and confetti-colored villages. On arrival in Sorrento, enjoy an hour of free time to explore this charming town as you wish. Perhaps stroll the winding lanes, enjoy the bars and shops in the central square, Piazza Tasso, or check out the majestic 15th-century cathedral — it’s entirely up to you. 1 hour

2. Positano Then, rejoin your minibus and keep your camera ready as you drive along the Amalfi Coast, tracing its winding cliffside road between lemon groves and the sparkling Mediterranean on route to Positano. Wedged between cliffs, Positano’s pastel houses fall steeply down to the sea, forming one of the Amalfi Coast's scenic highpoints. Arrive in the town and use an hour of free time here to perhaps shop at the chic boutiques and galleries, relax over coffee, or admire the Church of St Maria Assunta, famous for its tiled dome. 1 hour

3. Amalfi Next, arrive in the town of Amalfi and enjoy another hour to explore its sights at your leisure. Perhaps visit its striking 9th-century cathedral, browse the many shops hidden in the lanes or enjoy lunch (own expense) at one of the tempting restaurants. 1 hour

4. Ravello Your final stop is the town of Ravello, higher up the cliffs. There, you will get off the minibus as close as possible to the heart of the village, which is located in a pedestrian area. With an hour of free time here, maybe look around the impressive cathedral (Duomo) or visit the 13th-century Villa Rufolo (own expense), whose cliff-hugging gardens serve up jaw-dropping coastal views. Afterward, drive back to Naples, where your trip ends at your original departure point or any city center location of your choosing. 1 hour

I'm not a shopper but the views were worth the crowds!

Wonderful small tour (9), beyond beautiful scenery and lunch at a very fine restaurant cliffside. The towns are extremely crowded, the shopping is the same along the always packed streets but the views with a great driver made it all worthwhile. Busses took turns at the hairpins, so you have a little more time to view. Glad I wasn't driving!

What a fabulous day my daughter and I had touring the Amalfi Coast! Giovanni was our guide. He was polite, very knowledgeable and funny! He also spoke and understood English well and was easy on the eyes:) The roads in these little town are very narrow but Giovanni was a great driver. I have friends coming to Italy in a few weeks. I will definitely tell them to take this tour! Beautiful scenery and great shops/lunch.

Our driver/guide covered a lot of territory in good time by his expertise in the area. Roads here are very narrow and traffic can back up. He knew som work arounds to minimize being stuck in traffic whenever possible. The scenery around the coast is a sight to see.
