    Overview

    Cruise to the incredible Witless Bay Ecological Reserve for your chance to watch puffins, whales, and icebergs. Wildlife attractions vary with the time of year. Puffins nest May through to mid-September. Peak whale season is from mid-June through mid-August.  Whale sightings before and after peak period are a bonus. Icebergs typically appear May to mid-June.  Whales and or icebergs cannot be guaranteed on any given cruise. Enjoy entertaining and educational live commentary provided by on board naturalists and crew. Learn about Newfoundland's marine wildlife and heritage from your enthusiastic, knowledgeable, professional guides during this awesome adventure (minimum 90 minutes).  Our catamaran offers the most space for your comfort and provides the greatest range to increase your chance of finding whales.

    Shuttle service is available on select tours from St. John's hotels for additional fee of $35 + tax / person. MUST be booked directly with us at least 3 business hours in advance of tour time. Please contact / message us to confirm. Shuttle fees payable at time of tour check in.

    • Participants are advised to regard all instruction provided by the vessel crew
    • Direction/guidance is provided to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all passengers
    • Depending on vessel movement/sea conditions, passengers may be advised by the crew to refrain from standing or to remain seated during certain portions of the cruise
    • Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately
    • Whales and or icebergs cannot be guaranteed on any given cruise.
    • If in the event that the activity is cancelled on the part of Gatherall’s at any time prior to or during the scheduled activity, participants can elect to either reschedule at no additional charge or will receive a full refund.

    You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
    • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
    • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
    • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
    • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

    Exact same thing as Birds and Bergs

    Great crew and experience. It was too early in the season for whales but the bird sanctuary was amazing.

    Staff at the store were super friendly. Enjoyed being out on the water in 1 metre swells, entertained by the staffs singing and knowledge of the birds. The puffins murres razorbills and kitty hawks were plentiful! Sorry no whales today but it's early in the season. Captain Al and first mate Jerry were very pleasant and happy to talk about why they love living the life that they do! Clare and her mate made us honorary Newfies with a healthy shot of screech and all the dohickies to go along with it! Overall a great experience on and off the water, definitely get the feeling of a family run business!

    Very happy crew. The singing and stories with facts and information were terrific. A Newfoundland welcome. Not to mention plenty of puffins and a minke whale.

    My travel agent booked with McCarthy's Party. We couldn't have chosen a better group in any respect. They were wonderful from beginning to end. EXCELLENT tour guide, accommodations, food, cultural experiences, bus driver, etc. I have slight mobility issues and everyone couldn't have been more helpful, kind and considerate.
