What To Expect

1. Athens Meet with our licensed Tour Guide at 08:20am and depart immediately for Delphi archaeological site with our air-conditioned coach. The drive will last 2.5 to 3 hours with a small stop of 20 minutes at a local cafe for a rest-break. 3 hours

2. Delphi Delphi was regarded as the center of the world. According to mythology, it is here that the two eagles sent out by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the navel of the world met. The sanctuary of Delphi, set within a most spectacular landscape, was for many centuries the cultural and religious center and symbol of unity for the Hellenic world. The history of Delphi begins in prehistory and in the myths of the ancient Greeks. In the beginning the site was sacred to Mother Earth and was guarded by the terrible serpent Python, who was later killed by Apollo. Apollo's sanctuary was built here by Cretans who arrived at Kirrha, the port of Delphi, accompanied by the god in the form of a dolphin. This myth survived in plays presented during the various Delphic festivals, such as the Septerion, the Delphinia, the Thargelia, the Theophania and, of course. the famous Pythia, which celebrated the death of Python and comprised musical and athletic competitions. 10 minutes

3. Tholos of Athena Pronaia Your tour in Delphi will start by visiting the Tholos. The Tholos of Delphi is among the ancient structures of the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia in Delphi and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 15 minutes

4. Temple of Apollo Marvel at some of the most important and unique archaeological monuments, such as the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo, the Athenian Stoa and the Polygonal Wall. Our highly experienced and professional tour guide will make sure that you will not miss a single thing and enjoy yourself throughout the tour. 1 hour 15 minutes

5. Delphi Archaeological Museum Delphi Archaeological Museum hosts globally known pieces of Art like the Naxian Sphinx, the statue of Antinoos, the frieze of the Treasury of the Sifnians and the bronze Charioteer. 1 hour

6. Arachova Our final stop is the picturesque multicoloured village of Arachova, where we spent about an hour for optional lunch in one of the many traditional restaurants of the village or a stroll around its narrow alleys, in order to admire the hand-woven carpets and buy local delicacies, such as Formaela cheese. A 30 minute walking tour is offered by the guide before we get on the bus to return to Athens 1 hour 30 minutes

I loved this tour. It was very well organized, informative, the tour guide made sure that everyone is safe and comfortable, answered all our questions and concerns. Most importantly she gave us enough time to enjoy monument before moving us to the museum. The restaurant we had our lunch was great. In short, the tour was worthy of every penny. Highly recommend

Amazing tour. Guide was very knowledgeable and added a lot to our experience. We gained insight into Greek history and mythology. Delphi was incredible and the lunch in Arachova was delicious.

A Wonderful Tour

This was a fantastic excursion. Our guide, Dorina, was knowledgeable, engaging, flexible, and patient. She explained much Greek history during the bus ride to Delphi and gave an impressive museum tour when we arrived. Due to weather we had to switch the order of our tour and Dorina handled this expertly. The visit to picturesque Arachova was a nice place for lunch, despite the rain. When we we able to visit Delphi her knowledge was again impressive and her explanantions were informative. Our family enjoyed this and we highly recommend this tour. One thing: we noticed that many passengers did not tip Dorina and/or the bus driver. If you decide to take a tour, please research customary tipping for the guide and driver.
