Highly recommend Athens Taxi Travel. Georg our private driver altered his itinerary to accommodate our interests. Took lots of pictures of historic Athens. Georg was well versed in Athens culture and history. Thoroughly enjoyed our half day with him.

This is one of the most well known areas in the world. The Acropolis is located on a rocky hilltop in Athens. It is actually the platform on which stands the Parthenon. Here lie the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance, the most famous being the Parthenon. There were people living there around 495 BC. The Parthenon and the other buildings were seriously damaged in 1687 by the Venetians during the Morean War when gunpowder being stored by the Turkish rulers in the Parthenon was hit by a Venetian bombardment and exploded. There are many temples to see such as Olympian Zeus, the HephaistusTemple is set back from this area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Athens on our way to Crete. Costa was friendly, punctual and an abundance of information. He made sure to maximize the time we had and worked with us some great food before getting us back to the airport on time. We highly recommend this trip!
